less than修飾不可數(shù)名詞，fewer than修飾可數(shù)名詞，均表示“少于”。但是，如果復(fù)數(shù)可數(shù)名詞不強(qiáng)調(diào)其一一可數(shù)，而是表示一個(gè)整體單位，一段時(shí)間或一段距離，指的是度量，則要用less than,因?yàn)槎攘渴且粋€(gè)不可數(shù)的抽象概念。

fewer than：少于。

less than和fewer than的用法

1、與具體人 / 物連用時(shí)，多用fewer than, 在非正式語體中也可用less than。如：

One in ten women can cook fewer than three meals without looking at a recipe book or asking for help.

十分之一的女性在不查看食譜書或沒有幫助的情況下，連三道菜也做不出。

2、在與表示時(shí)間 / 距離 / 金額的計(jì)量名詞(days/ hours/ miles/ dollars)連用時(shí)，要用less than+ 數(shù)詞 + 計(jì)量名詞結(jié)構(gòu)：
