當連接兩個并列成份時，不能用and，而用or。如，Are a teacher or a doctor?Do you like Chinese or English？在陳述句中用and，如I can sing and dance.or用在選擇疑問句中，意為“或者，還是”。and不可用于疑問句。Is he a doctor or a teacher？他是醫(yī)生還是教師？

And的用法

一.and有這么一個用法，and前后的兩部分表示同時發(fā)生的動作的，或者是同時存在的屬性、特征等的時候，這時候它的意思就需要進行轉(zhuǎn)換了，可以譯為‘又...又...’，‘既...又...’，‘一方面...，一方面’，‘而’等。

這一類的是這樣使用的，例如：

If a body is acted upon by a number of forces and still remains motionless, the body is said to be in equilibrium。

The process of oxidation in human body gives off heat slowly and regularly。

二.and還有一種用法，與上一個用法類似，但還是有很大的不同的，在and前后的兩部分，有時在表示不能同時并存的事物或是動作的時候。這時候的and所表達的意思是‘或’。

這一類的使用，例如：

The whole equipment can be assembled and dismantled in a matter of hours。

三.在and的使用過程中還有這么一種情況，表因果關(guān)系時，and前面的部分表示原因或條件，后面的部分表示結(jié)果，在這里面的and相當于so that，可以把它翻譯為‘因此’，‘所以’，‘從而’等等。

使用的時候像這樣的，例如：

Sound is carried by air, and without air there can be no sound。

After firing the torpedoes the forward part would lose weight and the submarine would be out of balance。
