一、釋義不同

1、so that的意思是以致、為了、以便于;

2、so…that…的意思是如此……以致。

二、用法不同

1、so that 引導(dǎo)目的狀語從句，常放于句中;

例句：我讀更多的書，以便我能趕上我的同學(xué)。

I read more books so that I can catch up with my classmates。

2、so…that…中so是副詞，常常用來修飾形容詞和副詞，that引導(dǎo)結(jié)果狀語從句，常和too…to…結(jié)構(gòu)互換。

例句：He is so old that he can't work。

三、從句性質(zhì)不同

1、so that 引導(dǎo)目的狀語從句，意為“以便;為了”，常放于句中，但是in order to常放于句首或句中，so as to常放于句末。

2、so…that和such…that都可以構(gòu)成結(jié)果從句，所不同的是so…that之間接形容詞或副詞，而 such…that之間接名詞。一般情況下，即使名詞前有形容詞修飾也不能換用so…that。
