would是情態(tài)動(dòng)詞。它是will的過去式。表示過去時(shí)間的意志、意愿、決心，用于各種人稱。在表達(dá)請(qǐng)求、建議等的時(shí)候，比will的語氣更加委婉。還可以表示過去習(xí)慣發(fā)生的動(dòng)作，另外還可以表示推測(cè)。

would的用法

1.（will的過去式，用于轉(zhuǎn)述）將，將會(huì)

They told me that they probably wouldn't come.

他們對(duì)我說他們多半不會(huì)來。

2.（帶出想象的結(jié)果）

Hurry up! It would be a shame to miss the beginning of the play.

快點(diǎn)兒！要是錯(cuò)過這出戲的開場(chǎng)就太可惜了。

3.（表示可能發(fā)生的事情沒有發(fā)生，是因?yàn)橹傲硪患聸]有發(fā)生）就會(huì)

If I had seen the advertisement in time I would have applied for the job.

我要是及時(shí)看到了這則廣告，我就應(yīng)聘那份工作了。

4.（說明動(dòng)機(jī)）

She burned the letters so that her husband would never read them.
