not...until的基本含義是直到...才，在...以前不。not…until通常與非延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞連用，當(dāng)其位于句首時(shí)，句子要倒裝。其倒裝句結(jié)構(gòu)為:Not until+從句/表時(shí)間的詞+助動(dòng)詞+(主句)主語(yǔ)+謂語(yǔ)。

not...until的倒裝句結(jié)構(gòu)

倒裝句結(jié)構(gòu)：Not until+從句+倒轉(zhuǎn)的主句（主倒從不倒）

not until 引起的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)置于句首時(shí)，句子的主謂應(yīng)部分倒裝。由 not until 引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句位于句首時(shí)，主句應(yīng)部分倒裝，從句語(yǔ)序不變。

例句：

Not until Father came back did we begin to have supper last night.

昨晚直到父親回來(lái),我們才開(kāi)始吃晚飯。

Not until the teacher came in did the students stop talking.

直到老師進(jìn)來(lái)學(xué)生們才停止講話(huà)。

not...until的強(qiáng)調(diào)句結(jié)構(gòu)

強(qiáng)調(diào)句結(jié)構(gòu)：It is / was not until+從句/表時(shí)間的詞+that+主句

1、not until 后邊一般是時(shí)間點(diǎn)，如：

It was not until midnight that it stopped raining. 

直到半夜雨才停下來(lái)。

It was not until the teacher came in that the students stopped talking.

直到老師進(jìn)來(lái)了，學(xué)生們才停止了說(shuō)話(huà)。

2、not until 后邊也可以是陳述的句子，如：

It was not until he got sick seriously that he realized the value of a healthy body. 

直到他生重病，他才意識(shí)到一個(gè)健康體魄的價(jià)值。

3、not until 后邊還可跟介詞短語(yǔ)，如：

It was not until after Friday that I got his reply. 

直到星期五之后，我才得到他的答復(fù)。
